Maj. Gen. Joseph A. DiNonno, commanding general of the 29th Infantry Division, and 29ID Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy Hawley visit with U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers conducting annual training in the Czech Republic May 13, 2024. DiNonno spoke with Soldiers and senior leaders, toured their area of operation and presented challenge coins to Soldiers recognized for their efforts during training. Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia National Guard Soldiers are taking part in Immediate Response 24, a sub-exercise of the DEFENDER 24 exercise being held throughout Europe. The 29th Infantry Division mobilized to Poland May 5, 2024, as part of DEFENDER 24. The 29th is providing command and control for multinational forces as they conduct multinational training, wet gap crossings and artillery live-fires. DEFENDER 24 is the largest U.S. Army exercise in Europe and includes more than 17,000 U.S. and 23,000 multinational service members from more than 20 Allied and partner nations.
