Ambassador Jack Markell was confirmed by the Senate in July, 2023 as the U.S. Ambassador to Italy and San Marino. While he is visiting SETAF-AF he will be participating in a community round table event, a facilities tour of the Villagio construction project, as well as meeting with Mayor Giacomo Possamai, the Mayor of Vicenza. SETAF-AF serves as the dedicated headquarters for U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Army Europe & Africa, coordinating Army activities in Africa and providing scalable crisis response options across Africa and Europe.
