U.S. Marines, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Detachment Kathmandu, Nepal, in partnership with the Nepali Army, conducted a wreath laying ceremony with U.S. Ambassador Dean R. Thompson in memory of fallen aircrew and passengers, on May 12, 2024. Six U.S. Marines, two Nepali Army soldiers, and five civilians aboard the aircraft perished on May 12, 2015, while conducting flight operations during humanitarian relief efforts in the Himalayan Mountain region as part of Joint Task Force 505, Operation Sahayogi Haat.
