U.S. Space Force Chief Master Sgt. Jacob Simmons, command senior enlisted leader (CSEL), U.S. Space Command, command senior enlisted leader (CSEL), U.S. Space Force, and U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. James Porterfield, CSEL, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, cohosted a Leadership Development Seminar on Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, May 20, 2024. The senior enlisted duo spoke to junior enlisted members from multiple services on leadership topics such as warfighting philosophy, work/life balance, unit cohesion, and proficiency at the operational and strategic levels. After their remarks, the leaders answered a myriad of questions ranging from homeland defense of hypersonic glide vehicles; to Operations Allies Refuge/Allies Welcome – the influx of people and families from Afghanistan; to support of the COVID pandemic; leveraging partner relations; dealing with falling recruitment numbers, working in the joint environment, and more.
