Lisa Hallett, president and co-founder of the Wear blue: run to remember delivers a speech during the Memorial Day 5k run at Powderworks Park in Dupont, Wash., May 27, 2024. Wear Blue: Run to Remember was founded following the redeployment of 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division to their home station of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., March 09, 2010. During that deployment, a small group of wives, Gold Star families, and battalion staff met weekly to run, creating a support network for one another during this challenging and heartbreaking deployment. Today the Wear Blue event allowed both military and civilians the opportunity to help build a living tribute to the fallen, the fighting, and the families of the U.S. military.
