U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Aaron Moriarty sets security while on a reconnaissance patrol during Artillery Relocation Training Program 24.1 at Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji, Japan, May 17, 2024. The purpose of a reconnaissance patrol is to gather intelligence, conduct surveillance, and provide timely information about potential enemy movements, terrain, and other relevant factors to support military operations. Moriarty, a native of Maryland, is a rifleman forward deployed in the Indo-Pacific region under 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
