Service members of the 82nd Airborne Division drop over Mont Saint-Michel, France on June 2, 2024 in honor of the paratroopers who lost their lives during the D-Day invasion. Additionally, the jump recognized the memory of parachutist Bob Murphy, who was made an honorary citizen of Mont Saint-Michel in 2004. Commemorative events such as these serve to honor the sacrifices U.S. service members made 80 years ago in securing peace and security, and inspiring future generations to value a collective vision of global peace.
