Construction Electrician 2nd class Shaquanna Bearam speaks with Capt. Gordon Meek before being handed her frocking letter during Naval Construction Group (NCG) 1's frocking ceremony. Frocking is an administrative authorization to assume the title and wear the uniform of a higher pay grade without entitlement to the pay and allowances of that grade. NCG1 leads and manages the overall capability and readiness of Naval Construction Regiments, Naval Mobile Construction Battalions, Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit, and Underwater Construction Team. NCG1 is responsible for manning, training, equipping and deploying combat-ready Naval Construction Force units in support of combatant commanders and Navy component commander.
