Sand collected from Easy Red and Fox Green Sectors at Omaha Beach by Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 102nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Group, New Jersey National Guard, lies at the feet of the Lone Soldier at the New Jersey World War II Memorial in Trenton, New Jersey, June 6, 2024. Troop A of the 102nd landed on June 6, 1944, while the remainder of the cavalry unit landed on June 8. A ceremony commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-Day was held at the Memorial.
