U.S. Marine Corps Col. Matthew Brannen, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency deputy director of operations, gives a gift to a family member of U.S. Navy Seaman 2nd Class Michael Malek during an interment ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 6, 2024. The ceremony honored the life of Malek, who served on the Nevada-class battleship USS Oklahoma (BB-37) when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft during World War II. The USS Oklahoma suffered multiple torpedo hits, causing it to capsize. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency identified Malek on February 24, 2021. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Keion Jackson)
