Army Spc. Kevin Poulter, a human resources specialist with the Virginia National Guard’s 224th Aviation Regiment, reenlists on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France, June 7, 2024, following a ceremony hosted by Army Maj. Gen. Joseph Dinonno, commander, 29th Infantry Division, Virginia National Guard, to commemorate the “Bedford Boys” of the 29th Division’s 116th Infantry Regiment, who, on June 6, 1944, were among the first of the Allied Forces to set foot on Omaha Beach during Operation Overlord, taking heavy casualties, but ultimately reaching the top of the bluffs above.
