(WASHINGTON) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosts delegates from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the World Bank as part of a study on nature-based solutions funded by the World Bank. During their eight-day visit with USACE, the delegation toured sites in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida with the visit culminating at USACE headquarters in Washington, D.C., which included a briefing on the Sustainable Rivers Program and a roundtable discussion of all the events. The multi-day exchange of best practices in nature-based solutions for large river systems will provide more economical, efficient, and environmentally-sound water resources management in the U.S. and Vietnam’s respective river basins. The engagement aligns with the U.S. Global Water Strategy and the Mekong-U.S. Partnership as well as reinforces the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM, and environmental diplomacy.
