Brandan Schofield, logistics officer, both with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, speak to Japan Ground Self Defense Force service members with 1st Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment during a staff exercise on Camp Ainoura, Sasebo, Japan, June 11, 2024. The staff exercise prepared both armed forces for cooperative humanitarian assistance and operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
