The Iron Mike drop zone near Sainte-Mere-Eglise, France, fills with paratroopers during a static line parachute jump Jun 9, 2024. More than 1,300 jumpers from the U.S., France, Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, the U.K. and Germany jumped from more than 20 aircraft to commemorate the airborne operations that took place during Operation Overlord in Normandy, France, 1944. Commemorative events such as these serve to honor the sacrifices U.S. service members made 80 years ago in securing peace and security, and inspiring future generations to value a collective vision of global peace.
