Vietnamese local workers pass buckets full of soil from the excavation units to the wet screen station during recovery operations in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, June 11, 2024. DPAA leadership visited the site to observe mission operations. The United States and Vietnam share a partnership and dedication which aids in the recovery of missing personnel lost in past conflicts. Communication and relationships between Vietnamese officials, DPAA’s Vietnam Detachment, and recovery team leadership were crucial to achieve the fullest possible accounting of missing personnel during the 24-3VN recovery mission. There are approximately 1,576 missing personnel from the Vietnam War. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Morgan L. R. Burgess)
