U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. Nathan J. Marple, an Iowa native and small unmanned aerial systems capabilities integration officer with Combat Development and Integration, hugs his son, Lance Cpl. Grayson J. Marple, an aircraft avionics technician with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 242, during his retirement at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Triangle, Virginia, June 13, 2024. Marple served honorably for 20 years, during which he deployed multiple times to include the support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The ceremony ‘Old Glory’ is conducted during the retirement ceremony of United States service members, and involves the passing of the U.S. flag through the various ranks the retiree has once been.
