U.S. Army Spc. Sergio Machuca, and Spc. Andres Rodriguez, both Combat Medics with the 996 Medical Company Area Support (MCAS), assist a casualty into the trauma tent after their area of operation came under attack during a mass casualty exercise for Global Medic, June 9, 2024, at Fort Hunter Liggett, CA.
The area of operation came under a simulated chemical attack, forcing 996 MCAS Soldiers to decontaminate casualties before they can be transported to the trauma tent. Global Medic is a massive multi-national, multi-service, joint training exercise where the 996 MCAS was evaluated on providing medical care, receiving 25-30 patients that they have to assess and then transfer to a hospital for further care.
