From left, BACH Commander, Col. Sam Preston, Nutrition Care Division's Michelle Ornelas, Master Sgt. Yolanda Porter, Pfc. Kevin Chen, Patient Administration Division's Wendyann Deasis-Duboise, and Command Sgt. Maj. Gary D. Perry cut a cake in celebration of the 249th Army birthday during a ceremony in Flo's Cafe, June 14. Porter and Chen are the “most seasoned” and youngest Soldiers in the unit and upheld Army tradition by making the first cut into the cake. Ornelas has been with BACH for about six months, and Deasis-Duboise has been with BACH for more than 30 years.

Col. Preston explained the significance of the Army birthday. “We get to support the lineage that started in 1776 with the idea that all men and women are created equal and that we are going to fight and defend liberty... We today are that same line, unbroken for 249 years! Happy Birthday!”
