Chief Hospital Corpsman Cody Davis (standing) and Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Nathan Horning (seated) of Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit 2 Conduct a chemical analysis of a suspected chemical warfare agent during the recent Vigorous Warrior 2024 and Clean Care 2024. This on-site test allows public health professionals the ability to verify the presence of a suspected chemical warfare agent within a solid or rigid building or structure a crucial exercise that helps operational planners identify potential risks, assess safety measures, and inform appropriate responses. Vigorous Warrior 24 and Clean Care 24 is a NATO training exercise held biennially. It aims to enhance joint capabilities and interoperability in a simulated Article 5 scenario, which refers to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, when a NATO Ally faces an armed attack, all NATO members commit to assisting the attacked party with necessary actions, including the use of armed force. During the exercise, multinational medical assets (Vigorous Warrior) collaborate with scientific assets (Clean Care) to treat casualties and detect the use of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear warfare agents.
