    32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team

Part of preparing for a combat scenario is conducting a combined-arms rehearsal (CAR), which is a way of creating shared understanding of the mission at multiple levels. In the box at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), Fort Johnson, Louisiana, leaders from the warfighting elements came together to walk through a small-scale area of operations, allowing them to see each other in time and space while giving them the vantage point to identify and fix friction points. Col. Matthew Elder, commander of the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, led multiple CARs during the training rotation’s time in the box. This process is mirrored on a smaller scale, with battalions and companies conducting their own rehearsals so that all leaders have an understanding of their part of the mission.
