U.S. service members with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) unfold a U.S. flag to drape over a casket during a disinterment ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific(NMCP), Honolulu, Hawaii, June 24, 2024. The United States suffered approximately 36,500 casualties during the Korean War, making up over 90% of non-Korean United Nations losses. Of those, over 7,000 personnel remain unaccounted-for from the Korean War, representing the largest identification project within the DPAA. The caskets were transferred to DPAA facilities for further scientific analysis and possible identification. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Edward Randolph)
