Naval Ordnance Test Unit’s Commanding Officer, Capt. Jason Schneider, presented Keifer and Shawna Thompson, AKA Thompson Square, with a NOTU plague, as a small token of “thank you” for coming out to support the U.S. Navy. Thompson Square put on an acoustic performance of some country favorites along with many of their own original pieces for an audience of about 200 military members, veterans, civilian employees, and the family members on June 22. The Thompson Square performance hosted by NOTU’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation department at Cape Canaveral Space Station was one of several events across the globe all a part of a much larger project called “Operation MWR.” The concert was set outdoors near the USS Nathanael Greene submarine sail, across from the NOTU MWR Greenhouse.
