U.S. Marines with the maritime raid force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct helicopter rope suspension techniques exercise at Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, June 25, 2024. The training was conducted to rehearse insertion of a reconnaissance and surveillance team into a limited opening insertion point. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
