Snodgrass was commissioned as an Armor officer upon graduating from Gettysburg College in 1967. He served as a platoon leader with the A Troop, 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), known as the Blackhorse Regiment, in Vietnam. Snodgrass later served with the 11th ACR in Germany, eventually commanding the regiment’s First Squadron. Snodgrass received many awards during his service, including the Legion of Merit, the Soldier’s Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal.
Snodgrass’s spouse, Joan, received the U.S. flag from her husband’s service.
