U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Alec Blackmon, 802nd Security Forces Squadron superintendent, plans and programs, watches traffic for vehicles that make illegal turns to enter Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, June 26, 2024. Improper turns into this particular gate have become more frequent and have contributed to a higher risk of vehicle accidents at the intersection. As part of a new initiative to deter this behavior, offenders are pulled into an auxiliary lane and informed of the risks of their driving behavior before they are allowed to rejoin the line of vehicles to enter the base. JBSA receives and scans base-access authorizations for 36,000 vehicles and pedestrians each day. (U.S. Air Force photo by Brian Boisvert)
