The audience attends the performance of the Italian and American national anthems by the Italian army, Folgore Brigade band, during the ceremony to honor the sacrifice of the 442nd Combat Regiment, composed almost entirely of second-generation American soldiers of Japanese descent, also known as the NISEI Battalion. The event takes place in front of the monument of Pvt. Masato Nakae a NISEI hero. He was awarded the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart for his heroism on August 19, 1944, near Pisa, Italy.
