    Navy Closure Task Force - Red Hill

    HALAWA, Hawaii (July 8, 2024) Cmdr. Richard Barkley, facilities operations officer, Navy Closure Task Force-Red Hill (NCTF-RH) collects a sample of sludge from fuel tank 7 at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) in Halawa, Hawaii, July 8, 2024. About 12 gallons of sludge were removed from the tank. Sludge removal is part of the tank cleaning process for decommissioning the tanks. Charged with the safe decommissioning of the RHBFSF, NCTF-RH was established by the Department of the Navy as a commitment to the community and the environment.
