U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Jaiden Rodriguez and U.S. Navy Operations Specialist 1st Class Valentine Edward, both assigned to U.S. Coast Guard Legend-class cutter USCGC Waesche (WMSL 751), raise a signal flag during a Codes for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) exercise while training with the Vietnam Coast Guard Cutter VCG-8001 off the coast of Vietnam, July 12, 2024. CUES is an exercise focused on using signaling to overcome language barriers when maneuvering in a maritime setting. Waesche is the second U.S. Coast Guard national security cutter deployed to the Indo-Pacific in 2024. Coast Guard cutters routinely deploy to the region to engage with partner nations to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Elijah Murphy)
