INDOPACOM Visits Guam for 80th Liberation Day

240719-N-ML137-2175 HAGÅTÑA, Guam (July 19, 2024) - U.S. Navy Adm. Samuel J. Paparo, commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, and other military leaders on Guam render a salute during a wreath laying at an Unified Memorial ceremony at the Plaza de Espana in Hagåtña, July 19. Paparo is visiting Guam to participate in the liberation festivities as well as meet with military leaders, government officials and service members. This ceremony honors the survivors and those who died across the island during the two and a half years that Guam was invaded and occupied by Imperial Japan during World War II. Guam is celebrating its 80th anniversary of liberation from World War II this year with the theme “Peace For Us Always.” (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Samantha Jetzer)
