The Illinois Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion and Metra came together for a PaYS signing ceremony today signifying their partnership at Metra in Chicago, Illinois.
During the event key leaders such as Maj. Gen. Rodney Boyd, Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard, Jim Derwinski, CEO and Executive Director of Metra and John Morris, Chief Financial Officer for Metra, spoke about the importance of the Army PaYS Program.
All three leaders emphasized the struggles service members sometimes have gaining employment in the civilian work force. They also explained how difficult it can be for employers to understand how qualified a servicemember is by looking at their previous Army assignments, job specialties and experiences. The
The Army (PaYS) Program which has been around since the year 2000 is a strategic partnership between the U.S. Army and a cross section of corporations, companies, and public sector agencies. The Program provides America's Soldiers with an opportunity to serve their country while they prepare for their future. PaYS Partners guarantee Soldiers an interview and possible employment after the Army. This unique Program is part of the Army's effort to partner with America's business community and reconnect America with its Army.
