Brig. Gen. Clinton Murry, commanding general U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence, hosted a reception honoring the MEDCoE International Military Students at the Fort Sam Houston Community Center. The students were presented and introduced to the Fort Sam Houston and San Antonio Community under the auspices of the Field Studies Program. There are currently 22 International Military Students currently attending courses at MEDCoE, the Medical Education and Training Campus and the Brooke Army Medical Center ranging in ranks from the U.S. Army equivalent of privates to colonels. For this event 20 countries were represented. Command Sgt. Maj. Rodman Churchill, 32nd Medical Brigade command sergeant major, stood in for Command Sgt. Maj. Victor Laragione on the receiving line.
Under the Department of Defense’s Security Cooperation’s Program International Military Medical personnel train alongside their U.S. counterparts in support of the U.S. Army’s global mission to promote standardization and interoperability throughout the military spectrum, while enhancing partner nations’ medical capabilities. In addition to their formal training, International Military Students also participate in the Department of Defense’s Field Study Program. This Program takes the International Military Students on educational trips throughout the state of Texas. And some International Military Students, in select leadership courses, attend Field Studies Program trips to the National Capitol Region. The Field Studies Program trips expose them to U.S. Culture, government institutions and human rights.
