U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Chad C. Schutz an F-35 pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit briefs the scheme of maneuver and F-35 fires training operations aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), July 24, 2024. F-35 pilots and battlespace coordinators uses the terrain models to get a visual of the battlespace for pre-operations planning in order to have a more cohesive understanding of operations and spot errors in planning before execution. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
