The 104th Fighter Wing conducted a joint training exercise with the 439th Airlift Wing's crashed, damaged, disabled, aircraft recovery (CDDAR) team, July 25, 2024, at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts.
"For this exercise, the Westover CDDAR team was no-noticed responding to a CDDAR event at Barnes, where aircraft 494 was put in a position off the runway where the nose landing gear had collapsed and the left main landing gear was buried," said MSgt Adam Dempsey, 104th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron repair and reclamation supervisor.
“The team then had to re-establish contact with the nose landing gear and airbag the main landing gear back up to a level service in preparation to tow the aircraft back to the runway.”
Conducting these trainings ensures that Airmen our ready and prepared for any potential CDDAR event.
