The B-24 Liberator "Aero Lobo" aircraft was hit by flak before the target and again in the cockpit area after bombing and was lost over Ploesti, Romania on August 1, 1943. Gunners reported wounded during mission. Aircraft came down in the target area striking the ground with the left wing before disintegrating. Staff Sgt.
