Pontious, an infantryman with Company A, 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Battalion, holds his son, Caleb, who will be 2 in May, during a barbeque held following the unit's deployment ceremony at Fort Hood, Texas. The 148th is deploying with the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, headquartered in Ohio and comprised of troops from the Ohio and Michigan National Guards in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
