Members of the Tennessee National Guard receive a briefing on the capabilities of Cheatham Lock and Dam from Steve Panter, acting lockmaster with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District in Ashland City, Tennessee, July 29, 2024. The lock processes approximately 13 million tons of shipping per year, mostly consisting of commodities like sand, gravel, coal, gasoline and other types of fuel. The adjutant general of the TNG, Maj. Gen. Warner Ross II, visited the facility to learn about USACE capabilities and explore current and future partnerships to help the Guard fulfill its missions in Tennessee, which include military readiness and emergency support to civil authorities.
