UH-60 Black Hawk crews conducted water bucket training July 30 - Aug. 2, drawing water from the Snake River and dumping it on Orchard Combat Training Center land. As wildfire season continues through the summer, it is important that Idaho's Citizen-Soldiers are "Always Ready, Always There" if called upon to assist with wildland firefighting efforts throughout the state. In 2022, Idaho Army National Guard Black Hawk crews dropped more than 200,000 gallons of water on Idaho wildfires. The Idaho Department of Lands, the Idaho Office of Emergency Management and the Idaho National Guard maintain a partnership through a Joint Powers Agreement, which defines the process involved in interagency coordination for emergency response activities.
