Dirty water from contaminated sites gets treated at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. on July 24, 2024. The majority of water is contaminated with both perfluorinated alkylated substances, or perfluoro octane sulfonic acid waste and is treated on site with Granular Activated Carbon and Ion Exchange systems or other approved treatment technology before the treated water is reinfiltrated back into the ground within the same underground plume that it was extracted from.
