MSC was established on Aug. 4, 1947, and is Navy Medicine’s most diverse corps with 31 specialties and more than 3,000 active and reserve officers practicing or training in more than 31 different healthcare specialties. Medical Service Corps officers provide direct support to Navy and Marine Corps commands, squadrons, battalions and units and deploy in support of combat operations, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance missions.
