U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Roger Turner, left, commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), awards the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal to Sgt. Zachary Powell, a fixed wing aircraft mechanic with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, during a commanding general visit as a part of Exercise Resolute Dragon (RD) 24 at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, July 31, 2024. Powell received this award for his exemplary effort in coordinating preparation for the exercise. RD 24 is an annual bilateral exercise in Japan that strengthens the command, control, and multi-domain maneuver capabilities of U.S. Marines in III MEF and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, with a focus on controlling and defending key maritime terrain.
