Newport News, Va. (August 13, 2024) Captain Dan Patrick, Commanding Officer, Naval Weapons Station Yorktown cuts the ribbon on the U.S. Navy’s first 24/7 outdoor fitness pavilion on Tuesday, August 13th at Huntington Hall in Newport News, Virginia. The pavilion is a 800 square foot structure of dedicated fitness space, is modular, hurricane resistant, utilizes solar lighting and will be open to Sailors to utilize 24/7. The pavilion can accommodate up to 120 Sailors at any given time, and has a variety of free weights, kettle balls, jump ropes, workout balls, pull up bars, climbing ropes, squat racks and other fitness equipment. Installation leadership from NWS Yorktown along with leadership from Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair-Newport News were on-hand to cut the ribbon on Tuesday, August 13th to the new outdoor fitness pavilion.
