Dr. Katie Rubin, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) scientific recovery expert, ties an anchor point while attending the Basic Military Mountaineering Course on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Aug. 6, 2024. Twenty-two DPAA personnel graduated the nine-day course, allowing graduates to deploy to investigation and recovery sites in austere high-angle or vertical environments where terrain could otherwise make a site non-recoverable, with the assistance of more advanced mountain experts from Expeditionary Support’s Mountain Section.
