STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss. -- U.S. Marine Forces South and Reserve Commands located in New Orleans recently provided a panel of Marine and Naval officers and senior enlisted to participate in a Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School (NAVSCIATTS) Women, Peace, and Security module supporting the command's Strategic Leaders International Course (SLIC).
The panel, which consisted of Maj Lindsay Bartucco, Lt. Cmdr. Sarah Anacker, Senior Chief Petty Officer Desiree Moscon (HSS) and Master Sgt. Melissa Jones, addressed the experiences, challenges, successes, and contributions of service by females within the U.S. Armed Forces.
SLIC Director Robert "Gus" Gusentine, a retired Navy SEAL captain, moderated the event for the current course iteration, which features senior level officers and government officials from Bangladesh, Benin, Cameroon, the Republic of Cape Verde, Georgia, Ghana, Hungary, Indonesia, Côte d'Ivoire, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, the Philippines, Romania, Senegal, Saint Lucia, Thailand, Tunisia, and Samoa.
SLIC is a four-week course of instruction designed to build partner capacity by offering senior military leaders and senior government officials of partner nations new perspectives, methodologies, and opportunities for thinking strategically and for designing strategies that successfully address complex challenges.
