Air Force Maj. Gen. Duke Pirak, acting director of the Air National Guard, provides remarks during the International Junior Officer Leadership Development course graduation ceremony Aug. 16, 2024, at the Patton Hall Community Club and Conference Center on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia. IJOLD is designed to enhance and develop leadership skills, cultural understanding and military doctrine of junior officers from NATO member countries. The Air National Guard hosted the yearly course, which began at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tennessee, Aug. 9, and culminated at the Aug. 16 event in the National Capital Region. General Pirak leads the Air National Guard, formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, plans and programs affecting more than 108,300 Air National Guard members and civilians in more than 90 wings and 175 geographically separated units across 213 locations throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
