U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Riley Metz, a crew chief assigned to the Ohio National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing, wipes off the canopy of an F-16 Fighting Falcon before morning training flights, as part of exercise Northern Lighting, at Volk Field, Camp Douglas, Wis., Aug. 7, 2024. During this two-week exercise, the 180FW had an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to integrate with joint and allied forces, focusing on air to air combat, air to ground combat, dissimilar aircraft air tactics and offensive and defensive counter air with realistic surface-to-air and air-to-air threats.
