From left to right, U.S. Army Reserve chaplain Lt. Col. Kenny Honken, command chaplain of the 7th Mission Support Command, Brig. Gen. Karen Monday-Gresham, commanding general of the 7th MSC, and chaplain Lt. Col. Raymond Ayers pose for a photo following the changing of the stole ceremony, Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at the Daenner chapel.
The passing of the stole is the representation of the passing of the responsibility for pastoral care from one chaplain to another.
“A command chaplain is responsible foremost for the spiritual care of their headquarters,” said Honken. “A command chaplain is a religious support provider first and always a staff officer who supports the commander’s intent throughout the organization.”
The 7th Mission Support Command is the U.S. Army Reserve presence in Europe. Comprised of 26 units across Germany and Italy, the 7th MSC provides logistical and sustainment resources in support of the U.S. Army Europe - Africa missions across the theater.
