One of the new boring heads purchased by the Arnold Engineering Development Complex Model and Machine Shop at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., using innovation grant funding received in 2024 through the AEDC Spark Tank program is shown attached and ready for use July 30, 2024. The boring heads include technology that measures bored openings in equipment and features built-in digital readouts which allow machinists to quickly see whether a hole meets required specifications. Before the acquisition of these new boring heads, an indicator had to be placed on the bored equipment and a read-out obtained manually. (U.S. Air Force photo by Bradley Hicks)
