Petty Officer First Class Becky Floria, a Yeoman at Naval Construction Group 1 (NCG) 1, formally arrives at her retirement ceremony. The formal arrival marks the official entrance of the retiring service member to the ceremony. It is a way to recognize and honor the individual’s presence and service. In the U.S. Navy, a retirement ceremony is a formal event that honors a service member’s years of dedication and service to the Navy and the nation. This tradition is steeped in naval customs and courtesies and is a time to recognize the accomplishments and sacrifices of the retiring member. NCG1 leads and manages the overall capability and readiness of Naval Construction Regiments, Naval Mobile Construction Battalions, Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit, and Underwater Construction Team. NCG1 is responsible for manning, training, equipping and deploying combat-ready Naval Construction Force units in support of combatant commanders and Navy component commanders.
