U.S. Marine aviators assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Soldiers assigned to Republic of Korea Special Warfare Command conduct mission planning during Ulchi Freedom Shield 24, August 19, 2024, at Iksan, ROK. The Marines worked with ROKSWC Soldiers and U.S. Army Green Berets to study terrain, weather, airspace, and develop courses of action in training missions based on scenarios that could be used in real situations. The training missions involved combined ROK and U.S. ground special operations forces who honed their ability to conduct target identification and observation during a special reconnaissance mission followed by simulated terminal guidance operations and airstrikes from U.S. Marine Corps aircraft.
