Col. Linda J. Riedel, commander of the S.C. National Guard’s 228th Theater Signal Brigade, served as the guest speaker for U.S. Army Central Woman’s Equality Day observance Aug. 26, 2024, at Patton Hall on Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. During the observance, Riedel shared her experiences as a female coming through the ranks in the U.S. Army. Women’s Equality Day commemorates the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1920, which prohibited states from depriving citizens of the United States of the right to vote based on gender.
